This TEAC AG-790A Stereo Receiver w/ built in AM/FM tuner does exactly what I want. I just added CDs. (A rare commodity now days).Wish it had a built-in Equalizer, but I can add that component later.If you're not after a "Home Theater" unit, this is the stereo unit for you. I am age 53 (in 2009)- a child of the component stereo age- and I like it that way. I did not give up my albums. 2 channels- both left and right of full 100 watts each- That's 4 speakers; CD & Cassette deck inputs; an auxilery input; AND (here's the biggie) A PHONO INPUT.
I really appreciated the banana plug connections in the back. My requirements were (1) the sound quality and (2) our non-technical assistant needed to be able to turn it on. I've worked many AV applications. I purchased this economical receiver for a boardroom to power three ceiling speakers. It worked great in both categories.
Perfect for my needs, I replace a 25 year old receiver, I didn't want anything too fancy, and I still wanted to play my old LP's. Thanks Amazon. This was exactly what I was looking for. The sound is great and the price was right.
However, if you're on a budget, it's a good price and it'll do. Too bad TEAC's stuff had to turn to crap several years back.they used to have some really nice stuff.now it's the same mass produced cheap consumer electronics garbage as all the other popular name brands. It works OK. and that's about the best I can say about it. I have the same volume control, AM/FM reception, and background hiss issues as some other reviewers, and am thoroughly unimpressed.
Good FM sensitivity. Performs as expected. Setting presets somewhat complex but otherwise easy to install and use.
